Chiropractors Conduct Study on Major Cause of Fibromyalgia

Two chiropractors announced at medical conferences in France that 90 percent of fibromyalgia patients have underlying thyroid disease. The link to thyroid disease was revealed during laboratory and clinical studies spanning a 10-year period. The studies mainly involved multidisciplinary researchers with the Fibromyalgia Research Foundation in Tulsa, OK; Baylor Medical School and the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston; and the Centre Hospitalier Intercommunal in Toulon, France. Studies conducted by the researchers included extensive laboratory testing of the thyroid gland, pituitary gland, and hypothalamus of fibromyalgia patients. In addition, fibromyalgia patients underwent thyroid hormone, other metabolic therapies, and chiropractic treatment. Fibromyalgia is the most common condition of chronic, widespread pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbance.
