Considering Back Pain Surgery…

According to a new study, intensive rehabilitation can be a better option for chronic back pain sufferers than undergoing back surgery. In the study, 349 back pain sufferers were examined who underwent either spinal fusion surgery or intensive rehabilitation involving exercises and cognitive behavioral therapy. Their findings – there was very little difference between the back pain outcome of the two treatments. Thus, due to the many complications associated with surgery, it should only be used as a last resort after all other conservative noninvasive treatments have been exhausted, including chiropractic care.
