Dark Chocolate Rules

Want a delicious way to reduce blood pressure and boost your cardiovascular status? According to a new study, dark chocolate can help. Italian researchers found individuals eating 100 grams of dark chocolate daily for approximately 2 weeks reduced blood pressure and increased their sensitivity to insulin – important for metabolizing sugar. Similar results were not found with white chocolate. Dark chocolate contains high amounts of flavonoids – powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants are responsible for neutralizing potentially cell-damaging substances known as oxygen-free radicals. Beware, 100 grams of dark chocolate brings with it approximately 500 calories. So, if you’re going to reap those health benefits through a dose of dark chocolate, you’ll need to cut back your calories elsewhere or increase your physical activities!
