Chiropractic Tops National Survey of Back and Neck Pain Treatment

According to results of a random household telephone survey of more than 2,000 individuals reporting back or neck pain in the last 12 months, 37 percent visited a conventional provider (medical doctor/physical therapist) and 54 percent had visited an alternative type provider (chiropractor/massage therapist). Chiropractic was the most commonly sought treatment with 20 percent of these patients seeking chiropractic care. Moreover, chiropractic was rated as “very helpful” by 61 percent of patients as compared with 27 percent for those visiting a conventional provider (medical doctor/physical therapist)
